The Apple family began raising purebred Dorsets in 1973.  Ten years of 4-H, college at Purdue and law school didn’t phase the sheep operation but Grandpa Apple didn’t want the grandkids showing against one another in the same breed.

So, in 1998 John, Cheryl and daughter, Juliann, purchased two purebred Oxford yearling ewes establishing Apple Oxfords.  That has now expanded to include Juliann’s husband, Cameron, and grandson, Jackson.  We selected Oxfords because of a great Oxford wether John showed while in 4-H.  That lamb had the 1950s old-time Oxford breed character (see the “blast-from-the-past” photo below) and was a joy to show.

Over the years we’ve had some successes and some failures.  But, we always try to emphasize structure, soundness and breed character in our Oxfords to make them, and the breed, better.

Please contact us for Oxford breeding stock or to just talk sheep.
